If you are looking to buy a website and have
no real idea of the process and terminology, this page is for
you. Here you can find the process and key word definitions
that will help make the process easier.
Order of events of getting your website:
1.Finding and purchasing the right Domain Name for you and/or
your business. You can get many pertinent domain names that
directly relate to your business. Say you are a carpet installer,
you would look for domains of that nature. ex. Carpet-Installer.com
or BobsCarpetCo.net
2.The next step will be to find a good web designer. There
are a ton of wanna be's and hacks in this business so it is
important to see their portfolio and establish pricing before
you agree to contact him/her. You can try to build a site
yourself with a basic design program, but you will usually
end up with a sub par site and only for a few hundred dollars
more , you can end up with a good looking site and keep your
sanity. I look at it like this, if you were getting a family
portrait, would you hire a professional artist, or get a paint
set and do it yourself. Internet graphics and web design
is an art and takes an artists touch to look right.
3.Contract your web designer and get a strong estimate. Tell
them you are firm not go to over a certain price so they
don't add on bells and whistles expecting you to pay for
them. Also, give him/her the most detail you can so there is no
foggy space when it comes to the design and layout.
4.Once your site is built and you are happy with the look,
you can start advertising it. Most web design firms have experience
in this field. You can venture out on your own and hire a ad
firm or set up those search engine accounts yourself. But
again, I suggest hiring a professional.
5.Finally, you must set a realistic goal for advertising budgets
and expected income. Stay within the boundaries of your input
and output goals. It's easy to get carried away spending if
you want fast success. Overnight dot com successes are largely
a thing of the past and rarely happen. Expect to work and have
patience regarding the success of your website.
Hosting and Domain name expenses
are usually not included in the quote of a designer. In fact,
a great deal of people
get their domain name and hosting set up before even contacting
the web designer. Sometimes, this is because they thought
they were going to spend a hundred bucks and create a great
site themselves, only to give up and hire a professional.
If you buy your domain name and hosting through us, it is
much less expensive than most other companies. $100 will
get you your domain and hosting for one full year. Some companies
can charge well over $200 for this same service.
Also, we charge no tax. We figure tax into our pricing so
you know the full extent of your costs up front.
